This backdated post was penned down during the 2009 IPL season. In the IPL finals, I was in complete support of Bangalore and they were my favorites to pick up the IPL trophy, but that was not to be. In fact until the halfway stage of the IPL, although Royal Challengers Bangalore is my home [...]

So another nail has been driven into the BCCI’s and IPL’s coffin by the English Cricket Board and the English government. England has refused to host the IPL that was originally scheduled to be held in India but was moved out citing security reasons.
Now will the BCCI crib against England for having refused to be able to provide security to the cricketers? No, I am sure they will not. In India its common to bad mouth the politicians and engage in dirty politics, but they cant go around bad mouthing every country that they come across.
Is trouble brewing for (NRI)PL already?
From initial reports, various international players have expressed dissatisfaction that the venue is being moved from India. In fact Flintoff has gone on record that he was looking forward to this IPL as he would get a chance to play in India. Although there are players who are skeptical of coming to India due to its susceptibility to terrorist activites, it does seem that many players were looking forward to playing in Indian conditions and in front of the enthusiastic Indian crowds.
The IPL which is the Indian Premier League will not be held in India this year. This is so crazy. So the Indian Premier League will now be the International Premier League. Already the number of Foreign players in each team are above 50%. The only ‘India’ factor in the IPL was that the league was being held in India. But now this is no more the case.
