In Farmville there are an umpteen number of crops and trees and animals that you can grow and rear and harvest. But among all these choices, the decision on what you should plant could be quite confusing. I am here to help you out with making that decision. First up, it is obvious that if you have the time to play the game, then the best way to maximize on coins and XP is by planting seeds. Trees and Animals are meant for those who can’t spend too much time on the game on a day to day basis. So, if you are up for planting seeds and harvesting them the moment they are ready to harvest, then this post is for you.
To help you understand what I have done, I have considered the fact that one would first plow the field and sow the seeds. The moment the seeds are ready to harvest, they are harvested and immediately the field is again prepared by plowing and sowing. i.e. If you are sowing a seed that is ready for harvest in 24 hours, then every 24 hours you log into the game and do the full cycle of harvest, plow and seed. This way you are maximizing your returns. Now for each time you plow the field, you get 1XP, also based on the growth cycle of the seed you are planting, you get some XP. I have factored both these XP gains in my calculations.
Since we have seeds of varying growth cycles, I have considered a period of 12 days or 288 hours i.e. at the 288th hour, no matter which crop you are planting, you would be doing the full ‘farming’ cycle at this time. In mathematical terms it is the LCM of the growth periods of all the crops. What would be the most interesting for everyone are the last 2 columns. So if you follow the exact farming cycles, then the XP and Coins that you would gain every 12 days, per tile of crop, is given. You can use this, to plan out your farming cycles.

Note: These calculations are only for crops unlocked upto the Level 25. I will update the post as more crops are unlocked over time.
You see from this table, that berries are the way to go if you want to maximize both your XP and Coin level. Of course, you really need a lot of time to play with berries, since they have a very short growth cycle and you have to keep doing the farming cycle, of harvest, plow and seed, very very often.
