Bangalore Royal Challengers team selection needs a complete re-work

Being from Bangalore, I am extremely disappointed with the way that Bangalore have been performing in the IPL. Not just this season, but last season as well. In fact the last season the team was a lost cause thanks to the amazingly stupid team selection. However this season they did show some promise and I think they have the potential to perform.

Firstly there are the players who are not performing and I think its high time that the thinktanks of BRC stop considering players reputation and just kick out players that are not performing. There are only 4 matches to go and they really need to win all 4 of that to go through to the semis. Its either that or they have decided that they will not even bother trying for a semi final spot.

I had a look at the team and this is what I think would be the ideal team for them to make their last challenge to the semi-final spot.

Batsmen - Here I would again take 3 batsmen – 2 players who can stay put and rotate the strike and 2 who would hit hard right at the top.

Bowlers - It’s absolutely necessary that you have good bowlers who can contain the opposition. I would pick 2 pacers and 2 spinners.

All-Rounders – Here we will have 1 Wicket Keeper and 2 who can throw a decent ball.

The team that I have chosen, in batting order

  1. Sreevats Goswami
  2. Jacques Kallis
  3. Roelof vd Merve / Cameron White / Kevin Pietersen
  4. Rahul Dravid
  5. Gaurav Dhiman / Bishnoi / Kohli
  6. Mark Boucher
  7. Manish Pandey / Muralidharan Gautham / Uthappa
  8. Anil Kumble
  9. Appanna
  10. Praveen Kumar / Vinay Kumar
  11. Nathan Bracken / Dillon du Preez / Dale Steyn

The biggest problem here is that we have two positions open without a good player who can fill in those slots. These are positions 5 and 7 in my roster. Unfortunately the team selection for the RCB is so bad that two players that I just dont want to see playing could very well be selected since there is no one else left that can be taken.

Other than this, I feel there are players that should be dropped from the playing 11, because of their inconsistent form and poor performance and they are as follows.

1) Robin Uthappa – This guy is a disaster. Except for that one match where he scored a 50, he has been a waste for Bangalore

2) Virat Kohli – Another good for nothing player who I have never seen performing ever except for 10-20 runs here and there.

3) Ross Taylor / Jesse Ryder – These 2 players are a total waste of money. They only performed in the series against India and have done nothing but add to the number of ducks in this IPL
