Bought a Pureit Water Purifier and the (re)search for one

This summer I felt a deep urge to get a water filter for home. At home we drink ground water through a borewell, boiled and passed through a ‘candle’ based filter. Now the irritating thing was that for one, we were too lazy to put water to the boil, plus water consumption was varied depending on when we were at home and when we weren’t. So ultimately it ended up that only when the water in the filter got exhausted (or neared exhaustion), did we boil the water and then pour it down the filter.

Bungee Jumping tragedy in Bannerghatta, Bangalore

Today an engineer from Chennai aged 25 died in a bungee jumping accident in Bannerghatta, Bangalore. The organizers were of Care Adventure run by a Mr. Sheshadri who claims to be a retired army guy or something to that effect.

Apparently the bungee cord snapped and the guy plummted to the ground, sustained head injuries and died on the way to the hospital. The place was totally devoid of any medical facilities and fall back option in case of emergencies. The victims friends had to take him to the hospital themselves and I suppose it was too late and the guy died enroute.

Social Networking is Awesome – An Experience with Facebook

Since yesterday I’ve been having a whale of a time on facebook. I happened to notice soft copied of photos of my schooling days on my PC and I had a hard time keeping my laughter in check seeing how I and the rest of my friends used to look back then. I updated a couple of statuses and soon people were all over me asking me to share the pics with them.

I happened to find this article on Problogger a couple of weeks back and I had registered for the program. However, something slipped in my mind and I totally forgot that I had registered for this. Incidentally, the first communication(hopefully) from them ended up in my spam and I wasnt reminded of this program. Yesterday was day 1 of the start of this program and thankfully the mail found its way into my inbox. I would be starting off with this challenge and I hope to implement the steps and have a better blog in 31 days.

Shoegate – Chidambaram has a shoe hurled at him

Has it become a fashion statement these days to be throwing shoes at politicians that you are not happy with? Just when one thought that the scandal involving the Iraqi throwing a shoe at President Bush during a press conference, now its the turn of India’s Chidambaram to be on the receiving end of a shoe. I vaguely remember that there was another incident where a shoe was hurled at a top politician, though I cant quite place the incident.
